Corporate Social Responsibility MEMON has outlined an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign for the Middle East, which entails sponsorship and support to a host of charitable institutions, environmental agencies and other NGOs across the region. Memon Investments’ commitment to CSR will develop into a course of actions to elevate the value of life for the different segments of society. Consequently, the company plans to engage in programmes that aim to alleviate the burdens of poverty and promote quality education, and is currently in the process of forming alliances with other NGOs and charitable institutions as further means to follow the footsteps of the Shaikhani Group.

Rabia Charitable Foundation The Memon Group whose unwavering support to a charitable organization under their banner, the Rabia Charitable Foundation, spanning a prolific 18 years, has been an inspiration to millions worldwide. The Rabia Charitable Foundation has built schools and computer institutes with subsidized fees, mosques, hospitals that offer subsidized rates for the general public and free treatment for registered and homeless people, units with self-generating income facilities and housing projects that presently shelters over 3,200 families.

Rabia Relief Fund Under the Shaikhani banner, functions a nationwide support group called the Rabia Relief Fund that provides funds, food, medical aid and housing to victims during natural calamities, as well as other key organizations supporting other social causes which are also well assisted and maintained by the Group.

Safe & Sound Early September 2007, the company had announced its active participation in the ‘Safe & Sound’ campaign - BurJuman’s Breast Cancer Awareness Programme - as the official annual sponsor. This marked Memon Investments' first CSR undertaking in the region and it follows the long list of CSR initiatives embarked on by the company. Focusing on women’s health issues, Memon Investments is targeting breast cancer, the most prevalent type of cancer, which in recent studies is found to strike one in eight women all over the world. As women today are becoming an integral part of the region’s economic progress, Memon Investments appreciates their involvement in furthering the business sector and is fully committed to extending its support towards initiatives that promote the well-being of women. “Breast cancer affects not just women but the whole community. As a responsible corporate citizen, we have been furthering our contributions towards various social causes globally over the past three decades. As our first step towards this in the region, we have identified ‘Safe & Sound’ as the most extensive and effective campaign of its kind in the region and are indeed pleased to extend our all-out support towards the cause,” said Princy Philip, Manager - Marketing and Corporate Communications, Memon Investments. BurJuman has been zealously promoting information dissemination to educate women regarding early breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment. Over the past decade, BurJuman has been actively raising awareness, reaching thousands of people across emirates, to spread the message of hope, and encourage them to take the necessary steps in the fight against breast cancer.

Educational Institutions Education has been at the forte of all Memon community developments. The Group manages several schools fully equipped with modern equipments and latest teaching aids offering education for all age groups from toddlers to higher standards. In addition, the Group also manages computer institutes with a vision to promote computer literacy in the country. Education across all schools and institutes are offered at a subsidized rate to the needy students.

Medical Relief The Trust runs several hospitals and clinics providing medical relief with the latest technology, equipments and staff. All medical institutions run by the Trust offer subsidized treatment to the general public. Incase of the poor and underprivileged, free treatment is provided. The Trust also maintains a list of registered individuals and families for the needy, underprivileged, homeless and destitute, all of who receive free treatment.

Religious Institutions The Trust maintains several mosques for the spiritual development of its residents and all brethren.

Self-income Generating Units Over 1000 self-employed women are provided with all infrastructure and administrative support to generate their own income in the area of textiles and garments with all export requirements and support taken care of by the Group.

Homes for the homeless The Group prolifically looks at supporting the displaced and homeless by offering them subsidized as well as free homes, and presently shelters over 3200 families in its various purpose-built townships and communities.

Other Commitments Among other commitments to national interest is the conformance to the Emiratisation policy. Steps are also been taken for adequate Environmental Quality Management.
